Forums - Sony Discussion - UT3- PS3-PC crossplatform play: Confirmed

http://kotaku.com/gaming/big-guns/unreal-engine-adds-gamespy-tech-for-ps3+pc-crossplay-289930.php

"Epic Games announced today it has licensed GameSpy's online multiplayer technology with plans to incorporate the software suite into its extremely popular Unreal Engine 3 platform. What may read like a dreadfully boring partnership to some, is actually very good news for PLAYSTATION 3 owners and the PC gamers who want to mop up the floor with them.

Word of warning, though, PC snobs, the PS3 version supports keyboard and mouse controls, too.

The agreement will bring "seamless" PS3 and PC online functionality to games that license UE3, including matchmaking, leaderboards, instant messaging and secure player profiles and stats. Could Epic's own Unreal Tournament III be the first UE3 game to support the GameSpy tech? With UTIII snubbing Games For Windows Live, it's starting to sound like a possibility."

Woohoo lets show the PC players whos boss!

End of 2014 Hardware Predictions (03/03/14)

PlayStation 4: 12-15million

Xbox One: 7-10 million

Wii U: 8-9 million (Changed 01/04/2014 from 7-9 --> 8-9 million)

This is excellent news for gamers a like. I see no reason that any gamer cannot see this as a VERY good thing. I am totally for this idea.

If the online for the PS3 version of UT3 is very well put together and offers a strong experience, the fact that the PSN is free and I would imagine that cross platform play will indeed be free as well, that is very good.

Sweet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111111111!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We already know, prepare to be creamed

"..just keep on trying 'till you run out of cake"

Don't be so negative. I believe they have said that they are looking into balancing the differences between the mouse and the keyboard. Not only that, if I get it for the PS3, I'd most likely grab a PS/2-USB cable for my keyboard. Otherwise, prepare to be creamed if I get it on the PC, heh heh.

Didn't we already know this?

Microsoft makes you pay for this, even on the PC.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

Kasz- Kind of, they said that they were looking into it, but this pretty much confirms it as well. The link to Kotaku also has the press release.

Akuma- Yea, that's what I don't like about Windows Live. That you can have all these things for free already (look at Steam and the new Steam community beta), but you have to pay to use Windows Live or else you get restricted features. On that note though, if you have the gold subscription for Xbox Live, it includes Windows Live: Gold as well so you wouldn't have to pay for it again.
